This week, we explore the strange world of the My Scene dolls, which was Mattel's attempt to cash in the success of the Bratz Phenomenon of the early 2000s, as well as their first foray into the movie market with My Scene: Jammin' in Jamaica. How well do these movies square up against Bratz? How much will the tie-in soundtrack actually slap? Listen and find out!

Myscene goes Hollywood is def one of the most controversial Barbie movies, especially in recent years, so really excited to see that episode!

(con’t) where the Bratz were witches and I think they had a web series. Sorry for going off topic lmao, this episode definitely brought back some memories. The myscene web series really was stand alone from what I can remember - it was mostly cute skits inspired by outfits and concepts that the dolls had. Characters did leave the webseries as the doll line progressed. At one point Barbie moved away and she was replaced with a lookalike named Kennedy.

The whole Bratz/Barbie feud was very entertaining to watch in real time. I believe at one point Mattel owned the Bratz dolls, so MGA pulled the dolls from the market for a year, and by the time Bratz made their comeback in 2010 - they lost their foothold in the fashion doll market due to Monster High debuting around the same time. If you need some more ideas for a Halloween episode, there was a Bratz spinoff made to capitalize on the Monster High craze called “Bratzillaz” (con’t)
