I really liked your overview on the rise of Bratz. The Bratz found a lot of controversy with parents, so I wasn’t surprised when MGA introduced the Moxie Girlz, which were the more safe, and kid friendly Bratz during the latter’s absence from toy shelves. The Bratz were eventually redesigned in that direction and still found criticism from parents. The Bratz is more of a legacy brand now and seems better off for it.

Yeah, the introduction of Bratz influenced Barbie - the Barbie Diaries is a great example which was heavily inspired by the cutscenes and the focus on pop rock music that the Rock Angelz movie had. There was definitely a focus to make her more modern - Mattel enlarged Barbie’s head, hired Hilary Duff to be the spokesperson of the dolls, and introduced more stylized Barbie dolls which were horrific (trust me, don’t google the Lemonhead Kellys)
